There is a particular kind of phone call that means more to a growing business. Someone you have worked with calls and says, “I’ve been talking to someone who needs your help.”
For us at Stalis, a lot of our customer relationships have grown this way.A conversation over a sundowner becomes a project. A project becomes an ongoing relationship with its usual highs and lows.
And somewhere along the way, the relationship introduces us to someone else.
We have come to value those introductions because they remind us that the relationship does not end when the work is delivered.
In a lot of ways, it is only beginning.
Working with different businesses has also changed the way we think about technology. We have learned that a systems problem rarely exists in isolation.Sometimes the technology needs to change.
Sometimes the process needs attention first. Sometimes the business already has the right tools and they simply need to work better together.
We have become more interested in asking that question before reaching for another solution. What is actually getting in the way? What does the business need to work better?
And what role should technology play in fixing it? Those questions have become part of how we approach our work.
We are building a technology business, but the relationships we have built along the way have shaped what we want that business to be.
We want to understand the businesses we work with well enough to do useful work.
We want our customers to feel comfortable bringing us the difficult conversations, not just the neatly packaged ones.
And we want to keep earning the trust that brings people back, even when the first project is long finished.
Special thanks to the customers who have trusted us with their businesses, challenged our thinking, worked through the difficult moments with us, and continued to open doors to new relationships: Kenafric Bakeries, Neema Slaughterhouse & Halal Kenya, Marvel Safety Suppliers, Minibakeries, Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital, Avodemia, Imperial College of Medical & Health Sciences, Ouru Super Stores, Car & General, Hopelane Ventures, Solutech, and Factorhouse.
